Food Favorites

I love food. A lot. Unfortunately, when I was nine years old I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease-that means I am and will forever be allergic to gluten. That is pretty much a foodies worst nightmare! Luckily, I have been able to “adapt” to my allergy and I am now the gluten free pro.

So. . . Let’s talk about food!

Fruit!

If you are gluten free, fruit is your best friend. Why? There is no gluten in fruit!! Some of my favorite fruits consist of peaches, watermelon, and pineapple! I especially love fruit during the summertime-it is definitely my go to snack!

Acai Bowls!

Believe it or not, acai bowls are almost always gluten free! Just this past year I have grown to LOVE acai bowls. I usually get mine from Pressed Cafe, Playa Bowls, or Nourish Your Soul. Luckily, I have an acai bowl place in my town, so I always go with my friends. This acai bowl is called Blue Magic, and is topped with organic gluten free granola, almonds, coconut shavings, and honey! Yum!!

Pizza!

I know it might sound crazy–actually I know it does sound crazy, but there is such a thing as gluten free pizza! I learned this when I was nine years old and instantly felt much better about being gluten free. My friends and I love to go to a brick oven pizza place called Blaze Pizza and as a matter of fact, they have a gluten free crust! I usually get the Green Stripe- it starts with an olive oil sauce, mozzarella cheese, tomato chunks, a pesto drizzle, and arugula. Sounds good, Right?

Burgers!

You guys probably think I’m lying now, but I’m not. The burger that you see right here is in fact gluten free. I got this at The BostonBurger Co. In Davis Square, and it was by far one of the best burgers I have ever had. Some of my friends and I went with our Italian exchange students so we could give them a true, American burger. I think I was the one who got the real burger experience!

Sweet Treats!

Last but definitely not least, lets talk about some sweet treats. I have too many pictures of these to even fit on this page, but I will try my best. In the early 2000s, it was very challenging to find tasty, gluten free treats. Over the past 15 years more and more people have been diagnosed with gluten allergies or intolerance’s, meaning the gluten free industry has widely expanded. Now I can find something yummy anywhere I want! Even from a young age, I’ve always loved sweets!
